👉 Skipping the last 3 sts of the previous row, we will work into the chains we just made, starting with the last chain and leaving the last sl st unworked.
Ch 1, turn.
Row 19. 3 hdc, 2 hdc in the same stitch, 1 hdc, 4 sc, 3 hdc (these stitches should be centered on the face), 4 sc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc in the same stitch, 3 hdc, 1 ch and 1 sl st in the same starting point of the chains, then 4 sl st.
👉 Now we will crochet around the face.
- Along the side: 1 ch, 3 dec, 6 sc,
- Along the bottom: 2 dec, 1 sc3tog, 2 dec,
- Along the other side: 6 sc, 3 dec = 23 sts.
1 sl st in the corner.
Ch 1 and fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing the face and jaw to the skull.
🖤 ASSEMBLY
(See the video for all visual details.)
👉 Using pins, position the 8 sc along the bottom part of the jaw.
For the neck version: wrap the front half around the opening left for the neck.
For the closed version: using the last decrease round as a guide (V24 y V25), position the 6 sts around the round.
Once the jaw is positioned:
👉 Using pins, position the brow bones below V8, which is the last increase round. Place them directly below, above V9. It is very important not to go above V8, so the skull’s face does not become distorted.
Secure the cheekbones in place with pins.
Mark the gums, securing them underneath the cheekbones and aligning them with the center of each eye. This should fall approximately between V19 and V20 of the skull.
Glue a rectangle of black felt inside each eye socket to create depth. Then check that everything is balanced and sew the face to the head. (See the video for all visual details.)
✨ FACE DETAILS
- Embroider the teeth using thin black yarn.
- Embroider the nose, or add a small piece of black felt.
👉 (See the video for all visual details.)
Decorate as you like! ✨
